The
Orangutan Foundation was established in the UK in 1991 as a chapter of the Orangutan
Foundation International. It supports the long term study of the orangutan and
its habitat by Dr. Biruté Galdikas who is recognised as the worlds leading
orangutan expert.
From their London base, this small team of people dedicate themselves to the
preservation of the tropical rainforests of Indonesia and the orangutans who
live within them.
In support of The Orangutan Foundations vital work, Artform UK Ltd, through
the skills of wildlife artist Pat Clowes, have created this superb range of
orangutan sculptures. Orangutans, whose name means 'person of the forest' in
Malay, are the largest tree dwelling animal in the world and live in a semi-solitary
existence high up in the tree canopy. These sculptures depict actual wild orangutans
who have been resued by the Foundation and returned to the forests.
Artform UK donates 6% of its sales value of orangutans directly to The Orangutan
Foundation (Reg. Charity No. 1042194)
