The
Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund works internationally to save the mountain gorillas
from extinction and ensure the local people benefit from their unique natural
heritage.
Dian Fossey was born in 1932 she was an American zoologist who became the world's
leading authority on the mountain gorilla. Gorillas in the mist,
Dian Fosseys own account of her life with the gorillas, was published
in 1983. Five years later it was the basis for what became a Hollywood Box Office
hit. Dian Fossey Fund patron Sigourney Weaver received an Oscar nomination for
her role as Dian.
An unknown attacker murdered her in the early hours of December 27, 1985, in
her cabin at Karisoke. She was buried in the cemetery next to her beloved gorillas.
Artform UK donates 5% of its sales value of gorillas directly to the Dian Fossey
Gorilla Fund (Reg. Charity No. 801160)
